Domestic abuse is a pattern of controlling behavior used to coerce victims that can affect anyone regardless of their gender, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or social status. It can take many forms, including physical (scratching, shoving, slapping, disrupting sleeping patterns, strangling, etc.), emotional (name-calling, manipulation, monitoring texts/phone calls, etc.), economic (not allowing the victim to attend school, denying access to transportation, withholding money, denying bank account access, etc.) stalking, and sexual abuse.

According to a study conducted by the FBI, domestic violence is one of the most under-reported crimes in the United States. Both men and women can be victims of domestic violence and sexual assault  Here we have provided resources that provide information on domestic abuse and sexual assault.
